| - What does your service cost?
Every assignment is different and is priced by your instructions and what we see. Example: Car #1 1965 Mustang convertible, original paint, no body filler, and no rust…Car #2 1965 Mustang convertible, original plus two additional coats of paint, major rust, and body filler that we are to remove…Same car, different conditions, different prices!
- What can I do to save money?
Remove all chrome and undercoating. Frames must be grease-free. If we provide these services, it will be charged at the prevailing hourly rate.
- Do I need an appointment?
For whole cars, frames, and bodies, yes. With an appointment, most vehicles can be completed within 2 days, weather permitting. You do not need an appointment for parts.
- Should I remove the glass?
You should only remove the glass if you plan to strip (remove upholstery) the inside of the car or need to remove rust from around the windshield or back window frame. For outside stripping, leave the glass in. We’ll prepare and take 100% responsibility for the glass.
- Can I send you parts?
Yes you can, via a carrier of your choice. We will open, quote, strip, and return your parts in your original packaging. Don’t touch your completed work without gloves before priming.
- Why aren’t you portable?
We aren’t portable because of the EPA.
- What about chemical strippers?
It is expensive, time consuming, you will inhale the fumes. Chemical strippers must be locked away from children.
- What about tank strippers?
Tank strippers work provided they’re properly neutralized to prevent chemical bleed-back after being painted.
- What about sandblasters?
Sandblasters are great for frames and steel wheels. They are too powerful for sensitive sheet metal. Remember, sandblasters put the information on granite gravestones.
- Do you use baking soda?
No. If baking soda gets on wires, it can cause serious electrical problems in high humidity, rain, or dampness. It can also corode metal if not properly removed from the joints. Unlike our process, baking soda does not remove rust.
